The embryo’s implantation into the endometrium occurs some days after embryo transfer. When the embryo is implanted, it produces a hormone which can be detected from a blood test about 10-13 days after embryo transfer. The pregnancy is then confirmed by ultrasound, which detects the existence of the fetus and its cardiac function.
