Controlled Ovarian Stimulation (COS) is the primary reason for the increased rates of pregnancy success in IVF over the last three decades. COS refers to the creation of pharmaceutical protocols which allow for the simultaneous development of multiple follicles, but also prevent their premature and untimely ovulation prior to oocyte retrieval (which would result in the loss of eggs). There are many stimulation protocols that are more or less effective in different cases. For this reason, the physician's experience is extremely important to shape and personalize the protocol, based on the latest research data.
