Infertility is called the failure to conceive after 12 months of regular unprotected sexual intercourse with no use of contraceptives. Infertility is distinguished in primary and secondary.
Primary infertility is characterized when a couple has never had a child, while the secondary is when there is no conception following a previous pregnancy.
Unfortunately, infertility is not at all rare and in many societies is stigmatised. Proper diagnosis and understanding of the couple's choices help in making calm and realistic decisions to deal with this difficulty.
